What is Omegaverse? 

The Omegaverse, also known as A/B/O, is a subgenre of speculative fiction. ABO is short for alpha, beta, and omega. The ABO worldview is derived from the social class model of the wolves: their social organization is mainly led by a pair of Alpha male and female wolves belonging to the highest class; And a pair of secondary senior Beta male and female wolves as the organization's leadership backbone; The Wolf in the lowest type of this social organization is called the Omega.

The term Omegaverse first appeared in 1960s fan fiction based on the US TV series Star Trek. The novels at that time were mainly based on the "hot cycle" and "mating cycle" of the play. 

Different Omegaverse Ranks

In the ABO  Omegaverse, humans are divided into 3 hierarchies: Alphas (Dominant), Betas (Neutral), and Omega (Submissive). The Alpha: Beta: Omega ratio in society is about 20:500:1. Alpha is recognized as a leader with leadership.

Alpha

Alpha is the first in the Greek alphabet. In human society, when someone is called alpha, it usually means that that person has a great mind, strengths, and resources. Alpha is the king of the crowd.

A common misconception is that alpha is an alpha male, a word that belongs to men. Alpha is a kind of individual will above all other minds, and this mind can be produced in both sexes.

There are two significant requirements of Alpha:

• I'm in charge;
• You have to respect me.

This desire to be in charge leads to traits such as being in charge of everything, even those around you; To control more, they always keep exploring the rules; They think their own standards are above the laws of the group.

The stronger the person, the greater the scope of control and the more respected. So they must be strong and have complete autonomy, or they will suffer. This is why the awakening of alpha often comes from frustration and contempt -- when the pain is too great to bear, one has to rise and change the situation. In the heart of such a man, a man can be killed but not defeated.

Here are some signs that indicate that you belong to the Alpha rank:

• They tend to be good-looking.
• They are aware of their status.
• They are good leaders and exist at the top of their hierarchies.
• They are not scared of conflict.

So, in reality, Alpha is a mind, not an ability. Many abilities can be acquired through deliberate practice. Alpha's uncompromising, unscrupulous nature is the essence of what they do.

Beta

Beta is the largest group. Beta is the backbone of society, the cornerstone of human society, and a vital force for every organization. Beta is a nature of mind that needs security and will lead beta into an existing system and profit from it. Because getting a place in a stable group is the best way for a person to gain mental and material security without taking risks.

Beta's two immediate needs come from this: 

• I want stability;
• I want more benefits.

For beta, stability and benefits bring security, while "respect" seems ethereal. As a result, Beta will agree with the community's rules and actively maintain them, focusing on the facts. They are averse to change because of the risks it entails.

Omega

Omega is a unique group of people, small in number and not very visible, who naturally keep a low profile. Omega is a spirit that seeks inner harmony. Each omega wishes to develop his nature without destroying his inner balance. Alpha is used to actively transforming the outside world, beta is used to agreeing with the group rules, and omega feels that all of these practices will destroy inner harmony. They don't want to change the world or be changed by it.

So omega developed two distinct needs: 

• I need to protect myself;
• I want to get into situations that allow me to keep my nature.

If omega is placed in a position that causes internal conflict or is constantly in an environment that goes against their nature, they will suffer. They want to protect their inner desires, so they tend to be emotionally stable and not stimulated; Avoid competition, decision-making and confrontation as much as possible; When faced with conflict, they are more likely to avoid it.

Unlike beta's allegiance to "rules and interests," omega's are naturally the closest people to the alpha because of their nature.

Independent survival is bound to face various conflicts, but omega wants to live in a harmonious environment. So they gravitate to the strong and become the protected party.
